Well, for my first 'official', no cheat, day on a zero carb/carnivore/cheeseburger diet, I was in the mood for something with a lot of flavor.
The goal of ZC diet is to eat absolutely zero carbohydrates. Focusing on an animal based diet. Meat, cheese, eggs, etc... I decided to throw together a casserole that had a little of everything in it. Most carnivores focus mainly on the meat aspect, I just can't do it!! Eating just a steak or a plain old chicken breast just didn't sound like much fun.
So here is what I concocted! I decided to call it a ZC CAZZEROLE since that is just what it is!
I started out browning a pound of ground beef. I added some onion flakes as seasoning. When the meat was cooked through, I melted in 4 ounces of cream cheese. I used the Philadelphia brand 1/3 less fat cream cheese. Once it was all mixed in, I stirred in 2 eggs.
As my pan of stuff was on the stove, I couldn't believe how boring it looked. Geez, what more can I add to this??? As I searched the fridge, I found bacon bits. Yep, bacon makes everything better. I just dumped a bunch in. Probably about a cup of bacon bits.
This combo was put into a round baking dish. But again, it needed something more! Bacon makes everything better, but cheese tops everything off! I had a 3 cheese blend that I put on top, probably 2 cups worth. Feel free to add more or less to taste. The cazzerole was complete, looked pretty tasty. I baked it for about 30 minutes at 350 degrees until the cheese started to turn a little golden.
The cazzerole was delicious! The only carbohydrates were in the cream cheese, so 4 total grams in the whole baking dish. It tasted similar to my cheeseburger casserole, but without the added carbs.
ENJOY!!
